The vineyard is mainly located in the Canton de Cozes along the hills on the right riverbank of the Gironde estuary. These lands are favorable to the establishment of a quality vineyard because of a champagne-type soil and a very high amount of sunshine (more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year).
This potential reflects on the production of a grape of an optimum maturity whose flavors are very developed, and the must’s sugar concentration makes Pineau production possible.
Each producer distills his property’s wines with a Charente still, in order to make cognac.
The cognac is then aged in oak barrels, before either being used for Pineau production, or becoming an elegant cognac that you shall savor for you greatest pleasure.
Pineau des Charentes
On each cultivation, the Pineau des Charentes is made from harvested must and from cognac that has been made the year before on that same cultivation.
This Pineau is then aged in wooden barrels in order to ensure a slow maturation, under the watchful supervision of the winegrower.
The maturation can last up to several years, depending on the product they want to get. A very large panel of aromas and flavors develops over time, throughout the process.
Once they are aged enough, PUY GAUDIN works on the products so that they are ready to be put into bottles while respecting the meticulous work that has been done beforehand in order to preserve all flavors.
Modern implement with production capacity of over 11000hl and with a chain of more than 5000 bottles per hour ensures optimal quality monitoring while meeting ISO 22000 standard combining modernity and tradition.
